Sega Dancing (Sega Tipik)
You cannot leave Mauritius without learning a few Sega steps. This traditional dance has been registered by UNESCO on its Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The Mauritian Sega Tipik with its distinctive African rhythm will have your hips undulating to the beat. Each resort has its own Sega show. If you want to bring the tropical beat into your home, you can purchase a range of local folk music in one of the music stores around the island.
The spirit of Africa resonates through the music played by such instruments as ravanne, maravanne or triangle. Each singer improvises lyrics in the Creole language. Sega songs can talk of love or address everyday challenges and concerns, with the meaning enacted through the choreography.

The Seychelles are the oldest oceanic islands to be found anywhere on Earth. Sandy, dreamlike beaches with granite boulders, swaying palm trees, coral reefs and underwater wildlife make this country a dream destination. The group of 115 tropical islands in the Indian Ocean with only a few inhabited, is known for rich marine life and nature reserves.
Praslin
The inner granitic islands of the Seychelles are the only such islands in the world, based on continental rock. There are plenty of places to visit on the second biggest one. Enjoy the stunning white sand beaches, like Anse Volbert, Anse Petit Cour (La Domaine de la Reserve) and Anse Marie Louise. Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette frequently make top ten lists of best beaches worldwide. Anse La Blague is stunningly beautiful but quite remote. The beaches of the south coast are extremely shallow, and from May to October seaweed washes up on the southern shores.
You can explore the lush tropical forests covering the hills. Visit Vallee de Mai Nature Reserve or Fond Ferdinand Nature Reserve. Staying on Praslin is also a good idea if you want to travel to neighbouring islands (La Digue, Curieuse, Felicite, Big Sister Island, Coco). There are various boats leaving from Cote d'Or.
