Waterfalls
Enjoy the spectacular beauty of the Chamarel Waterfall that plunges more than 85 meters down into the gorge against a scenic backdrop of tropical jungle. Another highly popular attraction is the 10-metre high Rochester Fall on the Savanne River. The rectangular flank rocks are columns of basalt lava, which are estimated to be around 2-3 million years old. This waterfall is famous among youngsters who often perform dives into the water below.
If you like scenic views and nature, you should also head to the Seven Waterfalls (Les Sept Cascades) on the Tamarin River. These falls are hard to reach but worth the effort. The incredible string of cascades, with its abseils, deep ponds, cliff jumps and surrounding lush green vegetation, represent one of the most spectacular natural sites of Mauritius. Bring something to swim in as there are numerous pools to take a dip in.

The Seychelles are the oldest oceanic islands to be found anywhere on Earth. Sandy, dreamlike beaches with granite boulders, swaying palm trees, coral reefs and underwater wildlife make this country a dream destination. The group of 115 tropical islands in the Indian Ocean with only a few inhabited, is known for rich marine life and nature reserves.
Silhouette
If you love peace and serenity on a quiet postcard beach, take a day trip to Silhouette Island, located 20 km to the northwest of Mahé. Its white sand beaches rim a mountainous interior, with peaks reaching 740 meters. The third largest of the archipelago's granitic islands is also home to one of only two Seychelles virgin rainforests. In the mid-18th century, the French established spice plantations here, growing nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon and pepper plants.
Silhouette has been a marine national park since 1987. Over 92 percent of the island has been designated a protected area. This tropical paradise has well maintained trails. It is home to incense trees, 125 year old giant tortoises and an abundance of endemic plant and animal species.
