The Khor Al Udaid Beach, located on the south-eastern part of the country, is very famous for its excellent sand dunes, as high as 40 metres. Al Dhakira is home to the largest mangrove preserve in Qatar. Zekreet Beach, is enclosed by an amazing landscape with desert mushrooms, sand dunes and the ruins of old settlements. Fuwairit Beach offers white sand and clear turquoise waters. It is also home to the Hawksbill sea turtle hatching site.
Beach 4 in Katara, Doha is free to families from Thursday to Saturday. Al Khor Beach is also very family-orientated. There are lots of facilities, like barbecue grills, bathrooms and showers. Families can also choose Simaisma Beach, located north of Doha. It takes about 30 minutes to get there from the capital city.
