Skiing with a view over the Mediterranean Sea

Cote d'Azur region came to prominence at the end of the 18th century, when it became a winter health resort for the British upper class. Nowadays, in the winter time tourists from all over the world enjoy the thrills of Alpine skiing in the Alpes-Maritimes, just 1-2 hours from Nice. The 3000-metre-high mountains provide vast skiing areas for all levels of skiers, fine-quality facilities, guaranteed snow cover and exceptional sunshine. The ski season here starts mid-December and ends mid-April.

15 ski resorts and nordic walking areas in the Southern Alps will provide you with unforgettable fun in the snow. Winter sports fans can avail themselves of nearly 700 kilometres of slopes for alpine and cross-country skiers. One of the most popular ski villages is Beuil Las Launes. Auron, Isola 2000 and Valberg can be reached by a special ski-express bus from the railway station at Nice each day. Auron offers the largest skiing area in the region (135 kilometres).
