Where to stay:
In Bronx we encourage you to stay at 3* Opera House Hotel with excellent reviews. This sophisticated New York City hotel in a historic building in the Bronx is just a 2-minute walk from the 149th Street/3rd Ave subway station. A daily continental breakfast is available.

In Queens we recommend you to book 3* LIC Hotel. Featuring a terrace with city views and an on-site bar, this top rated 3-star hotel is 20 minutes’ subway ride from Central Park in Manhattan. Private parking and free WiFi access are available. A refrigerator and a flat-screen TV are included in each guest room. For your convenience, the private bathrooms are equipped with free toiletries and a hair dryer. You will find a 24-hour front desk at the property. Citi Field is 8 km from the hotel, while Arthur Ashe Stadium is 8 km away. The nearest airport is LaGuardia Airport, 7 km from LIC Hotel.

What to do:
Visit the National 9/11 Memorial & Museum, constructed in honour to the nearly 3,000 victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The Memorial pools mark the footprints of the Twin Towers that once stood on that site. The names of those who died are engraved in two bronze panels flanking the pools.

Attend a Gospel Mass in Harlem among local churchgoers.

Admire the distinctive architecture and interior design of the Grand Central Terminal. See the beautiful and abandoned City Hall Station from the downtown 6 subway train, after it leaves the Brooklyn Bridge station.

See the numerous places your favourite American movies were filmed in.

Curious urban explorers should head to Roosevelt Island to discover the ruins of an abandoned Smallpox Hospital and find the Cat Sanctuary in Southpoint Park. The Roosevelt Island Tramway provides amazing scenic views of Manhattan, running every 7-15 minutes from 59th street and Second Avenue.

To save some money, choose the city’s museums, galleries and performances that offer free entry or pay-what-you-wish options for a select day of the month or evening hours every week. Some of the free attractions in New York include: American Folk Art Museum, Brooklyn Academy of Music’s BAMcafé live events, Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, National Museum of the American Indian—Smithsonian Institution, Queens Botanical Garden (free Nov-March), Socrates Sculpture Park, Storefront for Art & Architecture and Waterfront Museum.

Attending an outdoor bazaar is certainly a must in New York. You can choose Brooklyn Flea, Grand Bazaar NYC or Chelsea Flea Market.

Take a free New York Harbor cruise. Just hop on the Staten Island Ferry and enjoy the great view of the Statue of Liberty and Lower Manhattan.

Get to know the lesser-known gems of NYC like Tannen’s Magic Shop, Museum of the American Gangster, Grand Central Terminal Whispering Gallery or Mmuseumm – a tiny museum housed in a freight elevator.

Have fun at the SeaGlass Carousel in Manhattan’s Battery Park.

Spend some time browsing Fifth Avenue’s designer showrooms. Ranked as one of the most expensive shopping streets in the world, it is lined with high-end shops and prestigious department stores.

Times Square, the world’s most visited tourist attraction, cannot be missed on a trip to New York City. This major centre of the world’s entertainment industry offers great shopping, entertainment and many restaurants to choose from.

Feast on ethnic fare in Chinatown or Little Italy.

Enjoy the vibrating nightlife scenes in the “city that never sleeps”. After dark you can check out one of the rooftop bars and jazz clubs illuminating the Meatpacking District.
