With the collaboration of Dubai Health Authority, Emirates recently introduced on-site tests that can detect COVID-19 in 10 minutes.
The Dubai-based airline introduced these new quick blood-tests yesterday at the Group Check-in area of Dubai International Airport Terminal 3.
The first passengers tested were boarding a flight to Tunisia, but there are plans to further expand the procedure
“We are working on plans to scale up testing capabilities in the future and extend it to other flights, this will enable us to conduct on-site tests and provide immediate confirmation for Emirates passengers travelling to countries that require COVID-19 test certificates. The health and safety of staff and passengers at the airport remain of paramount importance.” – Adel Al Redha, Emirates Chief Operating Officer said
Additionally to the deployment of new quick tests, the airline also adapted its check in and boarding formalities to comply with social distancing guidelines
Protective barriers have been installed at each check-in desk to provide additional safety measures to our passengers and employees during any interaction. Gloves, masks and hand sanitisers have been made mandatory for all employees at the airport.
Onboard of the aircraft there are no magazines or other printed material available, the meal serviced was adapt to reduce the risk of interaction and all cabin bags, except carry on bags limited to a size of a “laptop, handbag, briefcase or baby items” aren’t allowed in the cabin.
