Stepantsminda (formerly Kazbegi), is a small town in the north-eastern Georgia settled at 1,740 m (5,710 ft). Dominated by large mountains on all sides, it is a center for mountain climbing. The picturesque Gergeti Trinity Church, located outside of town, is a popular waypoint for trekkers in the area. It can be reached by a steep 3 hour climb up the mountain, or around 30 minutes by jeep up a rough mountain trail.

This architectural marvel, located in the Rhodope Mountains (10 km from Ardino) was rebuilt in 1515-18 on the site of the old Roman bridge.
