You will start your journey in landing in Fez. Get your car rental, take the road and drive to Essaouira! This city still retains its character of a fishing harbor with smells of fish guts and seagulls soaring and screaming over the town. This fortified town on the Moroccan Atlantic coast attracts crowds. From Essaouira drive south and explore Marrakech, a city described by Winston Churchill as “the nicest place on Earth to spend an afternoon”, with the ageless medina, the Jemma el Fna and other hidden treasures that the city has to offer. A “wind city of Africa”, of tourists but still considered to be the most authentic in Morocco. Finally, return to Fez, one of the largest medieval cities in the world. Get lost in its lovely labyrinth of extremely narrow streets in the medina and make sure to explore a traditional leather tanning factory!
A visit to South Morocco is a phenomenal cultural experience, as you can see the authentic adobe villages and meet local people. The vast desert region of Morocco runs along the border with Algeria. On your way to the desert, make sure not to miss the stunning Todra gorge near Tinghir.
Explore the traditional souk in Zagora and go for a camel trip to see the golden sand dunes of Sahara, like Erg Chebbi (near Merzouga) or Erg Chigaga (near M'hamid). You can meet the Bedouian family, taste delicious local food and spend the night in a desert tent under the sky full of stars!
