If you like beer, you should not miss this deal! The biggest beer festival – Oktoberfest is calling!
The Oktoberfest is now one of the biggest and most popular festivals in the World. More than six million people visit Oktoberfest every year. And they come from all over the world! As well as Italians, you will often meet Americans, Australians and the Japanese in particular.
O’zapft is! (It’s tapped!) – Munich Mayor Dieter Reiter traditionally opens Munich’s Oktoberfest with this cry…and then the beer can flow. Every year at 12 midday, the Mayor of Munich Dieter Reiter officially opens the world’s largest carnival by tapping the keg in the Schottenhamel tent. You might be wondering how many times Mayor Dieter Reiter had to tap to open the first barrel of Oktoberfest beer this year.
The 182th Munich Oktoberfest will be officially opened at exactly 12.00 midday on 19th September 2015. Every year, the first freshly tapped Maß of beer is given to the Minister President of Bavaria, Horst Seehofer.
A gun salute is fired in the air to the Bavaria statue. This tradition goes back many years and is a sign for the landlords in the other tents that they too can now begin to sell beer.
