A month or two ago, it was quite common paying more for a checked bag of than for the ticket itself. In a move to attract more passengers after the lift of travelling restrictions, one of the biggest low-cost carrier in Europe seems to be charging only €0.99 for checked bags and sports equipment until April 24th!
Most airlines are trying to think ahead and are defining strategies to attract passengers after their operations restart, usually waving rebooking fees or offering some great prices for some routes. EasyJet however, seems to have chosen another option. Accordingly to the carrier’s website, the prices for checked baggage have been sharply reduced. No official announcements have been made yet, but as we show in the image below, checked luggage up to 15 kg or 23 kg costs only €0.99 one-way.
We need to point that the prices remain unchanged in the fees and tariffs sections of Easyjet’s website (Update: this promotion will be available until April 24th).
Previously a passenger who wanted to buy a checked back had to pay €9.09-€45.49 depending on the route. Baggage up to 23 kg was even more expensive with prices ranging from €12.34 to €48.74.
Even more surprising is that the €0.99 tariff also applies to sports equipment. Previously, passengers that wanted to take their bicycle, ski, snowboard had to pay at least €42.
Most likely, these prices for checked bag or sports gear will not last very long, so its a great opportunity, especially considering that these fares are available until March 2021.
