The little sister island to Mallorca has a coastline of 220km, with crystal-topaz waters and 300 days a year of sunshine. It has more beaches than Mallorca and Ibiza combined. The most widely recognised images of the beaches in Menorca come from stunning Macarella and Macarelleta, situated on the south western coast of the island, near Alaior. These idyllic beaches have fine white sand and calm turquoise water. Surrounding hills covered with pine trees and holm oaks shelter the bay. Macarelleta is a small cove, located within 5 minutes walking distance from Macarella beach.
Menorca is also home to an impressive collection of prehistoric stone monuments, known as taulas. These Stonehenge-like mysterious megaliths reach 3.7 meters (12ft).
