Food
Philippine cuisine is heavily influenced by Spanish, as well as other traditions adapted to indigenous ingredients and the local palate. Dishes range from the very simple, like a ‘chicken (or pork) adobo’, marinated in a mixture of soya sauce and vinegar, to the elaborate paellas and cocidos. Expect plenty of fresh fish and addictive desserts. Don't forget to drink 'weng weng cocktail' and eat durian, the smelly king of fruits, in many Asian countries banned in hotels and on public transport.
One of the strangest and most famous street food snacks to try in the Philippines is balut - a developing duck embryo boiled or steamed and eaten from the shell with a splash of vinegar. The length of incubation before the fertilized bird egg is cooked is a matter of local preference, but generally ranges between 14 and 21 days. This traditional snack is a common street-food and is also sold in stores and malls.

Waterfalls
Enjoy the spectacular beauty of the Chamarel Waterfall that plunges more than 85 meters down into the gorge against a scenic backdrop of tropical jungle. Another highly popular attraction is the 10-metre high Rochester Fall on the Savanne River. The rectangular flank rocks are columns of basalt lava, which are estimated to be around 2-3 million years old. This waterfall is famous among youngsters who often perform dives into the water below.
If you like scenic views and nature, you should also head to the Seven Waterfalls (Les Sept Cascades) on the Tamarin River. These falls are hard to reach but worth the effort. The incredible string of cascades, with its abseils, deep ponds, cliff jumps and surrounding lush green vegetation, represent one of the most spectacular natural sites of Mauritius. Bring something to swim in as there are numerous pools to take a dip in.
Singapore is the world’s only island city-state, being the smallest country in Southeast Asia. The “Garden City” is an amazing mix of cultures, races, religions and languages. Gardens by the Bay
The Gardens by the Bay is a nature park spanning 101 hectares in central Singapore. Admire the Supertree Grove - the tree-like structures that dominate the Gardens' landscape with heights between 25 metres (82 ft) and 50 metres (160 ft). The park also features the Flower Dome, the world's largest glass greenhouse and the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. The Cloud Forest Dome replicates the cool moist conditions found in mountain regions in South-East Asia. Take the lift to the peak in the clouds to discover the unique plant life from tropical highlands up to 2,000 metres above sea level.
