Movie-famous Casablanca, located on the Atlantic Ocean, is the biggest city in Morocco. Visit the historical medina, the huge Hassan II Mosque and admire the impressive colonial architecture. An enigmatic charm of Tangier has always attracted numerous artists (Henri Matisse, Jimi Hendrix) and writers (Mark Twain). The blue city of Chefchaouen is a mountain town just inland from Tangier, full of white-washed winding streets, powder-blue buildings and olive trees.
The 1200-year-old Fez is one of the largest medieval cities in the world. Get lost in its lovely labyrinth of extremely narrow streets in the medina and make sure to visit a traditional leather tanning factory. In Rabat, the capital of Morocco, highlights include the marble Mausoleum of Mohammad V and the 12th-century Hassan Tower - the minaret of an incomplete mosque. Between Fes and Rabat, there is a partly excavated Berber and Roman city of Volubilis.
